Protecting your organisation, your people and your reputation - with clear, proportionate, defensible security advice.

I am an independent Counter-Terrorism and High-Risk Security Risk Consultant with over 30 years of policing and corporate security experience, retiring from the police as a Chief Inspector. Throughout my career I worked across a number of specialist disciplines - including emergency response policing, project management, and counter-terrorism - before transitioning into private sector consultancy in 2024. Within the corporate sector I have worked within the oil & gas, renewables, CNI sites, private equity, motorsports, hospitality, higher education and event arena.
As an accredited Counter Terrorism Security Coordinator (CT SecCo) and holder of the Advanced Diploma in Counter-Terrorism Risk Management, I have spent my career operating at the intersection of complex threat environments and practical organisational response. That combination of strategic understanding and ground-level operational experience is what I bring to every client I work with.
My policing career included some of the most demanding and high-profile security operations in the UK:
Alongside my operational policing career, I have delivered security consultancy, assurance and preparedness work across a wide range of complex corporate and commercial environments:
I operate as a selective, independent consultant - which means I take on a carefully managed number of client engagements to ensure every piece of work receives the quality, rigour and personal attention it deserves.
My approach is structured and intelligence-led, but always practical. I understand that most of my clients are not security specialists - they are business owners, facilities managers, venue operators and risk managers who need expert guidance translated into clear, proportionate action. That is precisely what I deliver.
Every report I produce is written to be read and acted upon, not filed away. Recommendations are RAG-rated and prioritised so you always know what needs addressing first, what can be planned in, and what represents a lower-order risk.
I am known for a calm, methodical approach in sensitive environments, and for communicating clearly and honestly at every level of an organisation - from frontline staff to board level.
All engagements are individually scoped and quoted following an initial conversation about your requirements. There is no standard price list because no two organisations, and no two assessments, are the same.
What I can tell you is that my fees reflect the level of experience, expertise and personal attention I bring to every engagement, and that the cost of a professional security assessment is invariably modest compared to the cost of the vulnerabilities it identifies.
Initial consultations are complimentary and completely confidential.

Martyn’s Law – formally the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 – places new legal duties on organisations responsible for certain premises and events across the UK. The Act requires proportionate, risk‑led and documented steps to reduce the risk of harm to the public in the event of a terrorist attack. With the Section 27 statutory guidance now published, organisations within scope should be actively preparing for compliance.
What the law requires depends on your tier:
Standard Tier (200–799 capacity)
Responsible persons must ensure appropriate public protection procedures are in place and that staff understand how to implement them.
Enhanced Tier (800+ capacity) and Qualifying Events
Additional duties apply, including a documented risk and vulnerability assessment, security and procedural documentation, and designation of a senior individual responsible for oversight and compliance.
How I help
I provide competent, independent, structured Martyn’s Law compliance assessments to support responsible persons in understanding and meeting their obligations. My support can include:
Whether you are at the start of your compliance journey or preparing to demonstrate readiness, I provide clear, competent, defensible advice that supports informed decision‑making and stands up to regulatory or insurer scrutiny.
A robust counter-terrorism risk assessment does more than identify what could go wrong — it gives your organisation a clear, prioritised roadmap for strengthening your protective security posture in a way that is proportionate, practical and defensible.
What this service includes:
This service is suitable for any organisation operating in an elevated-threat environment or seeking to understand and improve their current security posture.
Many organisations have security measures in place - but have never had them independently reviewed by a specialist. Gaps that are invisible from the inside can be immediately apparent to an experienced external assessor.
What this service includes:
This service is particularly valuable ahead of significant events, following an incident, or as part of an annual security review cycle.
Security policies that are out of date, poorly written or not fit for purpose create risk - not just operationally, but legally. If your organisation faces scrutiny following an incident, your documentation will be examined closely.
What this service includes:
I produce documentation that is written to be understood and used by the people who need it - not legal documents that live in a drawer.
The most robust physical security measures and the best‑written policies count for little if staff do not know how to recognise risk, make decisions and act confidently during a security incident. Effective, prepared personnel are a critical component of any proportionate security framework.
All training and table‑top exercises are developed from first principles around how your organisation actually operates. Exercises are designed to test plans and assumptions in a controlled environment, helping organisations identify strengths, gaps and areas for improvement without disruption to live operations.
I provide specialist security risk assessment services to insurers, loss adjusters and brokers, helping to identify vulnerabilities, evaluate claims-defensibility and strengthen policyholder risk controls.
What this service includes:
This is a specialist service drawing on deep operational experience in security risk assessment — providing insurers with genuinely expert, independent analysis.
